Bernedoodles

A Bernedoodle is a cross between a Bernese Mountain Dog and a Poodle. 

Poodles were initially bred to be water retrieving dogs or “duck dogs.” They have excellent swimming abilities and great intelligence. They have a curly low allergen coat, are athletic, trainable and highly versatile. 

Bernese Mountain Dogs were first bred to be working dogs on the pastures and farms of Switzerland. They are known to be sweet, affectionate, hard workers that live to please their owners. They are also known to be gentle with children.

A Bernedoodle is known to be extremely loyal, and charming, making them very trainable. The Bernedoodle can be sensitive and thrive as therapy, comfort, and service animals. They can have straight, curly, or wavy double coats. Regular grooming every 4-8 weeks is needed to maintain their coats. Grooming needs to be started as a puppy after their last set of vaccinations. They are not hyperactive and usually need a daily walk and some typical love and attention in their home. They are playful, goofy but intelligent. Cuddling with their human pack members is well desired.

A Goldendoodle is a Golden Retriever and the Poodle bred together creating a shaggy, low shedding coated dog with the friendly eager to please nature of the Golden Retriever and high intelligence of the Poodle.

Their obedience and intelligence has created a wonderful guide dog and their gentle affectionate temperaments make them great candidates for therapy dogs.

They need to be brushed daily with longer coats and groomed every 4-8 weeks depending on coat length and maintenance. They are highly social dogs and are very attached to their family pack. They are happiest being with their family and not left for long periods of time. They are great for active families who enjoy the outdoors.
